The Degenerative Ag Podcast

Welcome to the Degenerative Ag Podcast, where four friends in different fields of agriculture come together to discuss, and mostly complain about the current and past lives of farmers. The booze flows freely, like the Northwest wind.

Episode 40 starts with a new Spra Coupe (you'll never guess who it doesn't belong to) and a rain delay from wheat harvest… and somehow ends up in 1890.
What would 3/4 degenerates do with 160 free acres under the Homestead Act?
Let’s just say our plans involve questionable crops, oxen, skunks, a two-seater outhouse, and one fertilizer source nobody saw coming.
Oh, and somewhere along the way, french fries become a serious topic of debate.

Has Captain Corporate finally bought a Spra Coupe?  Why does he hate Sour Cream?  Is it true he has a full yard maintenance crew?
The main topic of today is rural garbage disposal,  both for personal and farm use.
And fires, lots and lots of fires

Tonight could be the most exciting night of the year, leading up to harvest, we hold a fantasy draft for equipment if we had 1,500 acres and no budget.  Back stage trades? Fist fights? There's bound to be some early drama.
We also catch up on listener questions, berate neighbors for letting their fox loose on someone's chickens, and, most importantly, live auction results as were recording!!!!!
We apologize for the poor audio quality towards the end, the main recording equipment pooped out, and Lucas excelled at blowing out the back up audio mic.

Happy 4th of July!!!
There's been plenty of time sat in a sprayer recently, so we decided to tackle some of the hard hitting, and maybe too wild conspiracy theories of agriculture. Crop mobs, fake birds, deer reading your tractor screens?
Also, say hello to our new sponsor, Hardhide whiskey.  They were more than accommodating to us, and sent us two different flavors to sample, how does that pan out over the episode? Stay tuned to find out.

1hr 13 min

We've got another weather break in, just in time to grab a few beverages, get up to date on events, and complain about the weather.
Rooster chaos, bees change hands in a truck stop lot, and Trevor drinks Roundup by accident—then accidentally buys a Spra Coupe. Wind's howling, trees are snapping, and we're arguing shelterbelts versus cover crops while eating durian wafers.

We got a "nice" pause in our planting schedules, due to ridiculous winds blowing soil all over the dang place.  So, as we do, got a break and went over to the watering hole and put together an episode.
We go through a few listener questions, and have a fun game of Would You Rather?

You give us your opinion, but this "short" episode proves the weather needs to turn so we can get in the fields.  We're spending too much on auction purchases, losing money selling at auction, going on vacations, and getting bored at our desks.
We get a few listener questions in as well, and you can feel the steam rolling from our ears through your speakers while we figure out how to math.
Please leave reviews if you like our show, and email any questions you have for us.  Pay attention to our social media for giveaways, they happen pretty frequently.
And, buy a shirt, it might go to the Spra-Coupe fund.

As you all know, we're suckers for a good, or bad, auction sale.  Are there different ways to approach live auctions vs online?  Is one better than the other? Is it acceptable to stare down the fella bidding against you and sensually lick your lips in an attempt to get them to back down?
We'll talk all sorts of theories and a bit of etiquette.  In fact, Captain Corporate gives a live demo during the show on online auction practices.  The Garlic Guardian tells a harrowing tale about being harassed by the Smokies on his most recent trip to pick up auction winnings.
The Son of Saline Soil is gone this week, so don't worry about having to count the curse words.

April is here, and it's time to say goodbye to winter, and hello to planting season, or so we thought, as we've gotten over an inch of moisture in the last week.  We decided we should share what we are all doing for spring preparation, trying to control the urge to hit the field far too early.
Christopher is back from his trip to Greenwich, England, and fills us in on his selfless journey to save Daylight Savings.  And of course, auction updates.
